Digital health work is often behind the scenes. During the pandemic period (since March last year), our digital health workforce has been challenged, lifted to new heights, and given opportunities to implement novel ways of providing healthcare services.
Health care at a distance (telehealth) is a feature of the Covid19 pandemic. People still need to access healthcare services when in lockdown and afterwards. Eighteen months ago, telehealth companies were called in to implement software to enable safe telehealth care. It wasn’t a time for perfection but they rose to the occasion, turned around projects in record time, provided training and support to those going live with telehealth for the first time, and fixed problems as they arose. Doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals learned how to use the technology in record time, developed and refined processes to make telehealth look like it’s always been there.
