During lockdown last year I had two appointments with my family doctor. I could see my doctor’s consulting room behind him and he could see my study. Of course, as a researcher, my first question was, ‘How is telehealth working for you?’ We talked about the features that he liked and what didn’t work in certain instances, e.g. you can’t take someone’s temperature via a video (unless the patient has a thermometer!).

I found it convenient and easy to talk via video (but it’s not the same for everyone). I could see my doctor’s expressions and show him things I wanted to show him, like the view of my garden, when he was talking how the appointment felt a little bit like a home visit (remember those?).
I work with a number of researchers who are also interested in your experiences of telehealth, so we put together a survey. We have one for those who provide telehealth services, like my family doctor and the practice nurses or nurse practitioners, and those who use the services, people like us. If you’re one of those people, please follow the links and tell us about your experiences.
We’re aiming to get more than 2,000 completed surveys. This week we have 94 consumer responses and 53 from providers.
Looking forward to seeing your responses, even though we won’t know who you are. Every response counts!
