An afternoon of presentations to the judges culminated in the winner being announced as the ‘Fight the fever’ group for their solution to young people struggling to keep up the routine of monthly antibiotic injections for ten years following rhuematic fever. Their solution consisted of an appointment diary, a league table for appointments kept, a support network, a game to keep them engaged, and incentives and rewards.
This was my first experience with hackathons at all. Never been to one. Never organised one (although I have organised conferences and other big events). This was a special experience that I will never forget. I’ll always remember the spirit of Ubuntu that I saw and experienced. I will always remember the generosity, creativity, collaboration and commitment that made our hackathon successful. Thank you.
I will keep posting reflections on the hackathon – please join the conversation.
