Last few days till the hackathon!

Only three sleeps to go till the Health Hackathon: Solving Self-care starts on Friday evening at 6.00 pm!

Who’s going to be there? So many talented people from a wide range of organisations have registered to attend and work in groups and/or be mentors. There are people from software companies, private health organisations, six District Health Boards, three Primary Health Organisations, and four universities. They are students, software experts (developers, engineers, designers, analysts), doctors and pharmacists and nurses, business and systems analysis, strategists and company directors, consultants (self-management, entrepreneurship, sales, management), and people who commercialise emerging products or manage product design or do business development, and also some students (post and under graduate).

When does it start and where can I park?

The hackathon kicks off at 6.00 pm on Friday 13 Feb in the Function Room and parking nearby is free. For details check out the blog.

Pitching ideas for groups to work on.

If you have an idea to pitch, here are some rules.

–          The idea pitching session happens after Prof Ngaire Kerse, Head of the School of Population Health and Liz Schoff, HiNZ Chair and I have said our opening comments.

–          You have two (yes, 2!) minutes to pitch your idea.

–          Prepare your pitch before the day. Here are some guidelines from my blog.

If you are not going to pitch an idea and you’re planning on joining a group, then think about how you will approach a group and offer your skills, experience, point of view.

The judges and the judging criteria.

We have finalised the judging criteria, which are available on the blog.

There are five judges who together represent different perspectives on Solving Self-care. Their biographies are on the blog. They are looking forward to seeing how your talent and hard work are expressed in what you deliver on Sunday after lunch.

Hackathon research.

Don’t forget to complete the online surveys and find the interview rooms at the hackathon to give us your micro-interviews.

When does the hackathon finish?

Every time I talk to people who’ve been part of a hackathon they’ve told me how amazing the experience has been and they wished it wouldn’t end. It has to end. Our hackathon will end on Sunday 15 Feb at 3.00 pm after the judges have declared a winner and some closing comments and marked the end.

This is going to be an amazing weekend of networking, collaboration, building new relationships, and taking an important step into the future of self-care. I can’t wait!
