Only 17 days to go and then we’ll all meet and start the hackathon on 13 February!
Some people have been working on an idea for a long time and would like to bring it along to the hackathon to get some input to help take it to the next step. Others have new ideas to bring along and see if they fly and to develop them further during the hackathon weekend.
When you’re preparing your pitch for the Friday evening, consider the following questions to help you frame your pitch.
1. What problem are you solving with your idea?
2. How are you solving that problem?
3. What skills do you need in your group to help you progress your idea?
Tell the audience the answers to these questions and people with appropriate skills and interest are likely to volunteer to join your group.
Bear in mind that the spirit of the hackathon is openness and sharing and collaborative competition. Whatever happens at the hackathon is considered ‘open source’ – in other words, what you bring to the hackathon doesn’t belong to anyone. Make sure you read the Terms and Conditions again so that you’re clear about our approach to Intellectual Property. If you’re in doubt about whether to share the idea you’ve been working on, consult a lawyer who knows about Intellectual Property before you come along to the hackathon.
Looking forward to seeing you on the weekend of 13 – 15 February!
