Hackathon timetable

Who is doing what over the weekend of the hackathon? Here is a run sheet of what we expect people will be doing. This will give you an idea of when you will be forming a group, when mentors will be around, when to prepare your presentation for Sunday’s judging and when the weekend’s work will end.

Friday, 13 February

6.00 pm Ngaire Kerse, Head of School of Population Health opens the event. Liz Schoff, Chair of HiNZ to follow with HiNZ opening words. Karen Day to introduce the research associated with the hackathon and go over the housekeeping information.

6.30 pm People with ideas they want to work on will pitch their ideas with a view to gathering team members.

7.30 pm teams form and brainstorm

10.00 pm the last person leaves the building for the day

Saturday, 14 February

The building is open 8.00 am till 10.00 pm. Light refreshments during the day, and access to a café on site. People work on their groups’ ideas. Mentors move around, assess need for help, offer help, receive requests for help and respond.

Sunday, 15 February

The building opens at 8.00 am and people can continue working on their groups’ ideas. During the morning mentors move around, assess need for help, offer help, receive requests for help and respond.

Late morning, people stop working on their ideas and group work and prepare for the judging after lunch.

12.00 pm Lunch and time for groups to finish off their presentation preparations.

1.00 pm Presentations from the groups.

2.30 pm Judges announce the winner/s and say something about the presented work and their thoughts on the winner/s.

2.45 pm Closing comments, Karen Day.

3.00 pm Hackathon closes.
